Styled // Get Graphic

04.19.2012

when i have nothing to wear or can’t seem to get together, dresses are always my savior. they are so easy to just throw on over leggings or with tights or sandals. the weather here in connecticut has been alternating how it wants to be. one minute it is hot and i am packing way my boots and tights and the next thing you know i am so cold i have goosebumps.

not all days are bright and playful. somedays i like to be a bit more muted color wise…

everybody loves a graphic patterns. they really draw your attention even if the colors aren’t bright. this dress was from a little shop in westport,ct. I forgot the name : ( The brand is millau. It seems a bit hard to find, but my research shoes that LF stores has a large selection of millau clothing. mix it with some pinstriped tights and shell-toed heels or flats and your ready to go! easy—right?

a bit too high for my everyday but if i need to dress it up, these shoes from baker’s are perfect.

and if you get cold a little cape coat is always good to have on hand. this heather gray one is from forever 21.

as always all photos are by my fave pola esther.

Would love to hear what your go-to pieces are in the morning when you just can’t get an outfit together? leave in comments!

Styled // In the Studio

04.06.2012

thought this week i would share my current workspace in my home studio apartment and my typical work outfit {skinny jeans, tee with flats}. this desk is where i spend most of my time working and creating. i am outgrowing the space a bit and i am packing up some things and moving into my new studio space in the next few weeks. just a few coats of floor paint and its moving time : ) but i will always remember my first “official” personal workspace.

yellow rewind skinny jeans // striped tee and red flats H&M // snakeskin j.crew belt similar to this one & the best chair EVER!

i love to fill an inspiration board up with things i collect and find. always fun to rearrange & layer.

i change like to switch up my computer wallpaper often. frankie magazine has some good ones.

if you have some office inspiration please comment & share any links. i am grabbing all the ideas i can get for the new space!

hope you have an awesome weekend!

Styled // Leisurely Dressed

03.30.2012

happy friday! remember the other day when i mentioned i need some much need leisure time? you see—my magazine subscriptions have stacked up and i thought it was time to catch up on the latest. sometimes it is hard to just take sometime to yourself and relax—i am the worst at remembering how important it actually is until i make the time to do it and the ahhhhhhh feeling settles in and it’s like how could you forget?

well this is a style post right?—above : thigh highs are from target, flower headpiece from forever 21

one of my favorite things to do is scour magazines for ideas and to keep up with the season’s trends. haven’t switched over to the iPad quite yet—not ready for it. my current subscriptions are Martha Stewart Living, Everyday Food, Country Living, Entreprenuer, Marie Claire, Lucky, Whole Living & Glamour.

above: the big pillow is from anthropologie and the little matching ones are from home goods. outfit: dress from bcbg, cardigan from express and necklace was thrifted.

did i mention that beautiful diptych painting that fits perfectly in the corner of my bedroom is a painting by my sister? she is super talented and i am lucky enough to have some of her paintings—check out her beeswax birdies—you will fall in love with each one.

hope you are inspired to take some time to yourself—maybe this weekend? what titles are in your stack of magazines?

thanks again to pola esther for her amazing photos. see all the styled posts here.

Styled // Spring it On

03.22.2012

i feel like the transition from winter to spring is always a crazy time. bridal showers and brunches are on the calendars alongside birthday parties, picnics and weddings. i have been cooped up in front of my computer for months now trying to keep up with the work flow and there is nothing i needed more than spring to come and the flowers to bloom. I will take in any second of the beautiful weather I can and enjoy the ice cream. happy spring friends! time to switch up the wardrobe next week : )

not hiding my current love for bows right now.  remember when i told you to “tie a freakin bow?”  I stole this sash from my pink old navy dress, doubles as a headband. my dress is similar to this one.

pola esther and i couldn’t resist this neon bench and checkered floors from our neighbors at thames river greenery. These morrocan patterned peep toe shoes are steve madden picked up at the good ol’ tj maxx.

above :  oxford shirt dress from american apparel, tights and belt from macy’s, necklace- thrifted.

i say go get yourself some flowers or find a bright bench! it is sure to brighten your day! Enjoy the beautiful weather!

styled posts continue next week. curious to know what spring trends you are loving right now? Share in the comments below.

Styled // bring your green hat

03.15.2012

one of my favorite holidays in t-minus 2 days. seems fitting that this week’s styled post is in the green spirit. can’t wait for the festivities this weekend!

i got this green 4 quarter sleeve sweater top at banana republic a few years back and i think i bought it in 4 different colors because i loved how it felt and fit. it is perfect paired with jeans or tucked in and dressed up a bit with a high-waisted skirt like this orange one from h&m.

don’t forget to bring your green hat for irish luck! the town parade is this weekend and i hope to have a guinness or 2 at the local pub and enjoy some corned beef and cabbage with friends. nom nom! hope to see some of you locals on green st.

would love to hear your plans for st. patrick’s day and what green you will be wearing? share in the comments below!

Styled // Leopard and Teal

03.08.2012

march is always an exciting month for fashion, all the spring lines are out and in stores—the tricky part is making it work when it is still chilly outside and you are dying to wear all your new spring skirts & dresses. not quite there yet but fingers crossed we will be there soon—60 today here in CT but a bit windy for my liking! getting into transition mode…

i rock the boots for a few more weeks and the flats start making their way out. these boots were a quick pick up from forever 21. no one likes cold feet.

my solution for transitioning spring things is some bright colored tights (hue is the best) & cute simple blazers—this one is from the GAP. i always keep demin skirts and jackets on hand even though the trends are off and on off and on.

love love love the braided headband, adds a little something something.

last call for fur!  keep the animal prints ready to wear but just mix and match with bold flat colors. this mini cardigan and belt are also from forever 21 (no secrets here.)

STYLED // PINK SHOES AND FLARE

03.01.2012

styled series take 2 with fotos by pola esther // i’m not gonna lie this jacket and pants make me feel a little like a rockstar. sometimes you just have to let your hair down.

these super flare khaki jeans from citizens of humanity are the most comfortable and best fitting pants i own—i bought them online at piper lime. they have a great 70′s quality about them which is why i bought them. i highly recommend citizens of humanity jeans for the long-legged ladies out there. these ones are highwaisted so i feel i always need a belt to complete. this neon belt from ann taylor loft is perfect for exercising a little splash of the trendy neon that i talked about a few weeks back. to complete this rockstar look this jacket is from vero moda, super cozy and stylish.

this thrifted mini-cape is super cute. so perfect to add over a short or long sleeved tee if you get a little chilly or just want to pump up the cuteness.

the hardest part about this new series is seeing so many pictures of myself. i am sure you shy ones can relate. i am finding my favorite ones are always the ones without my face. ha! well, here is a smile and some shiny hair.

i’m telling you these pants rock and with these pink shoes (thrifted). i’m taking these for a walk. peace xo

if you missed the first styled post, be sure to check it out!

p.s. sorry for all the thrifted items <3

Styled // Pattern & Color

02.23.2012

yay! so excited for today and to share the start of my new styled series. i love photography and i love fashion so it wasn’t hard for me to dream up this idea. i really hope you enjoy the first of many posts and are inspired by all the super photos by foto of pola esther. i think i have told you many times how amazing and talented she is. i have shared her work here and here. part of me hurts to add graphic elements to her photos because they are so beautiful as is.

i always love red nails. so classic. when i can’t decide what color to paint, red is always the color of choice. this bone ring is from my neighbor flavours of life—always a go to place for unique finds. this photo reminds me of these 1960′s vogue covers i found. vogue—strike a pose.

tweed is a closet staple. i just bought this tweed jacket back in november and i am already wearing it out a bit. it is vintage after all—but i will be sure to maintain for next season. it was a lucky find from tova’s vintage shop (remember when i found these vintage hallmark postcard set?, same place) it has a great 60′s feeling to it that i love. i can always throw it over anything and suddenly i’m chic and stylish.

like coco chanel says, “a woman with good shoes is never ugly.” i make it very important in my life to have good shoes and  they are usually the pops of color in my outfit. these royal blue ones are perfect with grey tights. the shoes are naughty monkey’s closet from zappos. i know, doesn’t sound right but so hot—right?

best way to wear a scarf. tie a freakin’ bow of course. POW! take that boring outfit. see my pinterest board for the bow obsessed. blurry photos are so dreamy, aren’t they?

this express sweater is a favorite of mine. i literally am wearing it right now as i am creating this post. i throw it over everything. i admit for about 4 months i wore it upside down, it is supposed to be a shorter, more gathered sweater but sometimes i prefer it long and draped.

that lace summer dress is from h&m. great for layering. kinda feel like a big doily in it.

the lights on this wall are pretty amazing!

for my little styled recap: don’t be afraid to layer, add pops of color with accessories and don’t ignore the stripes trend, in my eyes lines are always good.

when in doubt, tie a bow.

tata for now. kisses for ania and susan for all your help and creativity.
